Air Spring Systems provide very low natural frequency and are virtually resonance free. On this project they are used to isolate electron microscopes on inertia bases with a system frequency of 2 Hz. Each inertia base has a mass of appoximately 16 tons and is supported by 4 air springs. Air is supplied from compressed air cylinders but could be supplied by a small air compressor. The system is used to prevent ambient building vibration from disturbing the high magnification microscopes. Details and pictures can be seen on our new webpage Air Springs under products and services. |
