Structural isolation

Mason UK is a trusted partner for engineers and contractors seeking high-performance structural isolation solutions. We deliver precision-engineered systems to control vibration for new and existing buildings across the UK.

Our philosophy

When unwanted vibration and noise threaten a building’s acoustic performance and comfort, effective structural isolation becomes essential. At Mason UK, we provide structural isolation solutions tailored to each project — protecting buildings from vibration sources such as railways and tube trains.

Our Building isolation systems are designed and tested to ensure the highest level of acoustic performance and have a minimum design life of 100 years. We engage early with the design team to ensure acoustic criteria is met, and support throughout to project completion.

What is structural isolation?

Structural isolation is the practice of physically separating parts of a building to prevent the transmission of vibration and structure-borne sound from external sources. This typically involves isolating an entire building from its foundations using bespoke isolation bearings designed specifically to suit the application.

Working closely with structural engineers, acoustic consultants and architects from a project’s beginning is essential. The structural engineer must incorporate the bearings in their design to achieve effective structural isolation. We guide structural engineers through this iterative process to ensure a successful, risk-free outcome for their project.

High-quality bespoke solutions

Isolation bearings and other isolators are designed bespoke for each project and manufactured and tested at Mason Industries’ state-of-the-art facility. Mason UK has been involved in some of the highest profile projects in the UK and stands apart by offering:

Tailored design support

We collaborate from early design stages to ensure isolation requirements are properly specified and structurally integrated.

Precision-engineered bearings and isolators

Designed to meet specific load, deflection and frequency requirements using the highest quality materials.

Full lifecycle support

From acoustic modelling and engineering calculations to on-site installation by our in-house team.

Fit-and-forget reliability

Our systems are designed and tested to last the building’s lifetime without degradation or maintenance.

Historical buildings

Our recent work on the Cambridge House project, isolating a Grade I listed building in central London, is a prime example. Retrospective installation using isolation bearings helped avoid demolition, preserving heritage while achieving world-class vibration control.

Why choose Mason UK?

Proven track record: From new five star hotels to historic renovations, we’ve delivered isolation solutions for some of the UK’s most challenging projects.

Experienced in-house engineering team: Unlike competitors, we don’t outsource this critical task. Our own trained team ensures installation is done right the first time.

Backed by Mason Industries: Our partnership with global leaders Mason Industries gives us access to world-class technology and support and ensures full control over our supply chain; all fabrication is in-house.

CPD & technical guidance

We provide CPD seminars and technical webinars for structural engineers, acousticians and consultants. Topics include:

Acoustic and vibration theory
Isolation bearing design
Integrating isolation into structural layouts
