What is structural isolation?
Structural isolation is the practice of physically separating parts of a building to prevent the transmission of vibration and structure-borne sound from external sources. This typically involves isolating an entire building from its foundations using bespoke isolation bearings designed specifically to suit the application.
Working closely with structural engineers, acoustic consultants and architects from a project’s beginning is essential. The structural engineer must incorporate the bearings in their design to achieve effective structural isolation.
