Acoustic Isolation of Speakers & Subwoofers
When a music speaker is mounted to a ceiling or wall, it is often rigidly mounted. This can cause vibration issues if the adjacent rooms to the side or above are sensitive to vibration and sound. It is necessary to isolate the speakers from the structure to remove the vibration transmission path.
We are able to offer unique solutions for speaker mounting utilising our products and bespoke designs that are not on available anywhere else on the market. A ceiling mounted speaker should be isolated by spring or rubber hangers. The hanger type is dictated by the vibration frequencies exhibited and the construction of the surrounding structure. Special bracket designs and frames can be supplied to suit each application. For example, a system including heavy metal plates to shift the centre of gravity directly under the hanger such as the below. This improves stability and increases spring deflection and thus vibration isolation performance.
In some circumstances, a rubber mount system is best suited. This is to isolate high frequencies and to treat vibration in low sensitivity areas. A wall mounted speaker can be isolated by rubber mounts or pads. Adapter brackets or plates may be necessary to incorporate these products with the manufacturer’s brackets/speaker arms. We are able to design and supply the full assembly. See the following example that utilises a double Super W pad system and HG Bolt Bushings with an adapter plate.
Floor mounted speakers and subwoofers may require vibration isolation too. We can offer a range of rubber mounts and pad solutions, and also spring mounts in some cases. Cost effective products such as our Super WSW pads are a popular solution. Additionally, a higher performance isolation products such as our ND Double Deflection Mounts are a great solution. Increased performance solutions are also available if required.
